Pioneer AVH-X5800BHS Review – Whats new with this unit?

Pioneer has done it again! Well, a bunch of times recently. The AVH-X5800BHS is probably the standard high end double din radio, similar to the 3800BHS was in 2015. The specs on this unit aren’t too different from last years flagship pioneer double din units however, the software features and the speediness of the user interface have completely changed. For the better!

Front facing camera option: Allows you to install a camera that faces the front of the vehicle. This is perfect for users who park it tight places and would like to ensure that the do not hit the objects in front of them. This option is growing more and more popular with our customers!

Pandora presets: The Pioneer AVH-X5800BHS allows you to add and utilize 6 Pandora presets. This is one of the new pioneer 2016 options. Its insane that pioneer didn’t allow you to do this in previous years.

Wide Band Speech Recognition 1.6 update: This new feature is pretty simple. The update made Bluetooth phone calls sound better than my actual phone sounds during voice calls!  I doubt they can make it sound any better than this, at-least not any time in the near future.

Dual Phone Pairing: You can now pair two phones and use them simultaneously for phone calls and media streaming. This means if my wife wants to listen to spotifiy through her phone, she can. I can pick up phone calls during her audio streaming from my own phone as well!

What is AppRadio One?

AppRadio One is a new feature in 2016 that allows you to use selected android device seamlessly through 1 cable as apposed to the 2 cable set up from previous years.

Internal Navigation: Other than the standard navigation features you can utilize thousands of pre-loaded points of interest’s, read reviews and revisit previously visited places.

Android Calendar: Utilize your phones internal calendar, view and edit as well.

Weather: Gives you an overview of the weeks weather via pioneer over the air updates!

Music: You can utilize pioneer podcasts, your AM/FM and your phones internal music while charging your mobile device.

My overall opinion on this radio was mixed at first, that changed pretty quickly. We install a lot of radios and tend to overlook some of the features, do to high demand of installations we simply did not have time to take a seat and admire this device.

After setting up the Pioneer AVH-X5800BHS and taking a look at the different options i realized something. Pioneer is not changing the features that customers love, they are simply adding more useful options onto those features. This is huge, a lot of brands don’t understand that replacing features and adding different ones literally drives customers insane and forces them to look elsewhere in an attempt to find the features they need.
